Madrid is preparing to welcome Macondo Park, an ambitious temporary cultural city created around Shakira’s upcoming European residency at the Iberdrola Music complex in Villaverde. The Colombian superstar will perform 12 concerts between September and October 2026, with approximately 50,000 attendees per night and close to 600,000 visitors expected throughout the residency.
Designed by internationally renowned architecture studio BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, Macondo Park will offer much more than a traditional concert experience. Inspired by Shakira’s creative universe, Latin American culture and Gabriel García Márquez’s fictional Macondo, the venue will combine music, art, gastronomy, fashion and entertainment within a vibrant and immersive environment.
The temporary city will feature eight themed pavilions, landscaped green areas, Macondo Plaza, an extensive fan zone and dedicated VIP spaces. Visitors will be able to discover exhibitions celebrating Shakira’s career, musical and audiovisual experiences, Latin American cuisine, fashion and art installations, as well as interactive activities for different audiences.
Macondo Park will open for extended hours on concert days, allowing fans to enjoy the experience before the main performances. The 12 concerts are scheduled across September 18–27 and October 2–11, making the project one of Madrid’s most significant entertainment events of 2026 and transforming the capital into a major destination for Latin music, creativity and culture.
